Microsoft Windows Vista

The latest version of Microsoft Windows is Microsoft Windows Vista, which replaced Windows XP and was launched across the UK during Q2 of 2007.

The Alfred Ashley Group has NOT been rolling this out to our customers and said that we would not start delivering until Q2 2008. This was due to compatibility issues and the fairly radical changes for both users and support staff.

We have now been testing for quite a while and are up to speed on the support aspects. We will start delivering in certain scenarios, as agreed Q2. However, we will deliver on new equipment only as the hardware requirements are quite high and support from manufactures is only available on approved equipment.

We also need to work with customers and third parties to test any non-Microsoft software, in order to cover incompatibility issues/prevention. Hence, you will need to initially make provision for this.

We can report, that this offers an extremely rich user experience and there are some good technological advancements, particularly in terms of mobility and compatibility with mobile devices.

We will be fully supporting Vista Business and Enterprise versions but as you can appreciate we will NOT be supporting Vista Home, designed for and sold specifically to the Home Consumer market, as was the case with Windows XP Home, the previous version.
